Steven Kay is the Founder and Co-CEO at Golden Gate Global and Managing Partner at Urbanite Capital. He shapes Golden Gate Global’s long-term vision and drives the key strategic moves that will determine the future of Golden Gate Global and the industry.

Mr. Kay was the founding member of the respected San Francisco based law firm, Kay & Merkle, LLP, which specialized in real estate and business transactions. From 1985 to 2000, Mr. Kay represented the San Francisco 49ers football team and national sports figures Reggie Jackson, Bill Walsh, and Mike Shanahan. Mr. Kay has extensive experience representing entities and individuals involved in the business of developing and owning improved and unimproved real property including Lennar Homes, Lennar Community Builders, and Five Point Holdings, LLC.

Mr. Kay, recognized as a special advisor to several government leaders in the City of San Francisco and the State of California, shares office space with former Mayor Willie L. Brown, Jr. since Mr. Brown’s exit from public life in 2004, and together they represent clients in San Francisco and throughout the State of California in a myriad of matters including gaming, transportation, and housing.

Mr. Kay earned a JD degree from University of San Francisco in 1966, and a bachelor’s degree from University of California, Berkeley in 1963. Mr. Kay was admitted to the California Bar in 1966. He has been a guest lecturer for the Practicing Law Institute (PLI).
